he aim of the Project "Innovative Actions of the Municipality of Arta for Culture and Tourism" is the complete digital upgrade of the Municipality, which includes the promotion of important attractions and the promotion of tourism not only through its infrastructure (hospitality, catering, entertainment), but also through the cultural wealth it has and is a significant advantage. The Municipality of Arta is one of the richest in cultural wealth Municipalities of Epirus and Greece, while its wider area is characterized by very high historicity and has important cultural monuments, which are placed in all important historical periods.
The Municipality of Arta seeks to preserve, expand, highlight and promote the rare cultural heritage, natural wealth and tourism potential of the place, and to record a substantial cultural intervention through its integrated digital upgrade, which is based on state-of-the-art technologies in terms of multimedia content, digital applications and services.
In this context, the placement of contemporary signs utilizing QRs and beacons is carried out as well as the textual documentation of all the points of interest of the wider area of the Municipality. At the same time, an expansion of the Wi-Fi network took place so that the visitor can connect to the internet for free and take advantage of the new innovative applications, gaining easy and fast access to culture / history elements, as well as a series of alternative activities, to plan personalized routes.
Also, a multi-channel web and mobile application is implemented for navigating and viewing points of interest, providing language selection, location-based information, suggested routes and the new design of new ones, use of online / offline maps, multimedia galleries, direct communication with other users and social networking networks.
In addition, the digital capture of points of high cultural value and the development of multimedia material, which includes photographs, aerial video and 3D static and moving 360-degree recordings, have been implemented. Also, the visitor can enjoy visual 3D representations of emblematic monuments with the use of virtual reality, resulting in an experiential observation and interaction with digital exhibits. In addition, it can take advantage of the innovative augmented reality tour guide and tour the city with it as well as to participate or suggest consultations for cultural activities.
